St. Francis Sailing Foundation’s Annual Auction Gala Key to Funding Olympic Grantees and Community Programs

Tickets Available Now to March 17 Event

A range of unique sailing experiences are up for bid at the St. Francis Sailing Foundation’s (StFSF) annual “Night with the Stars Auction” March 17.

Open to all sailing enthusiasts, the 11th annual auction night is vital to ensuring the continuity of the Foundation’s wide-ranging programs.

“Outreach programs continue to expand in the Bay Area by introducing young people to the sport through grantees Call of the Sea and the Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC),” said Foundation President Carolyn Patrick.

“In addition to supporting community sailing programs, the annual auction contributes to the extensive grant program for aspiring Olympians such as Caleb Paine (top-ranked USA Finn sailor) and Marion Lepert (top-ranked US women’s RS:X windsurfer), as well as past Olympian and best USA medal hope in 2016, Paige Railey (US Women’s Laser Radial),” Patrick said.

A Who’s Who from the Bay area sailing community is expected. Attendees are welcome to bid on a range of auction items that fund the Foundation’s grants.

Auction items include some exclusive travel packages on money-can’t buy experiences at private homes and locations including a one-week stay in Faubourg, St. Germain (Paris) and two nights at Yacht Club de Monaco; and airline miles for eight business class tickets to a beachfront luxury treehouse in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Other unique experience packages include a Team Alvimedica experience during the Newport, RI stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race.

“The funds raised at the annual auction night have also provided scholarships to promising young sailors, and supported the Cal Maritime Academy Sailing Program while the outreach component of the St. Francis Yacht Club High School Sailing program is putting many budding competitors on the water,” Patrick said. “This is a fun night for all while giving back to our sport both at the global level with our Olympic grants and locally by supporting essential community sailing programs.”
