There are many ways to get into sailing around the San Francisco Bay, and many of them are very low cost. If you have a little bit of persistence, finding a sailboat owner looking for crew is a great way to start. Look in our “Crew List” suggestions. There are also social networking groups and community sailing organizations that have a lot of opportunities. Probably the fastest way to become a knowledgeable sailor is to take lessons from one of the many commercial sailing schools here. And finally, most yacht clubs around the Bay Area will accept members who may not have any sailing experience, but have an interest in learning in a very social atmosphere.
