Richard Jepsen

Rich has been active in sail training since his first sailing instructor job that started in 1977, in Annapolis, MD. There he taught sailing for two years, acquiring his USCG license. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1979, he began work, first as a sailing instructor, then as a manager and finally as CEO and partner of OCSC Sailing, one of the premier adult sailing schools in the country and a US Sailing Certification facility. Under Richard’s leadership, OCSC has won several awards for excellence in teaching, community service and outreach as well for its excellent employment culture. Richard has served as a volunteer for US Sailing on several committees, including the Board of Directors. Now he serves as the Chair of US Sailing’s Education Division. Richard is an experienced cruising and racing sailor who races a J/24 and leads club sailing flotillas around the world.
